Starting with sketches and rough paper versions, our product designer Berta Azarte came up with many different ideas about how to change the experience people had using the existing syringes and applicators. While we played around with lots of ideas for “semen delivery,” ultimately, Berta created a series of different forms for a nicer, more comfortable syringe: something that people know how to use and is simple to disassemble and clean. She also did various tests to design an insulated cup that would keep the semen as close to body temperature while being transported from the donor to the expectant parent. Berta carved prototypes in foam that we used in user-testing to gather feedback from potential consumers.
